NEWS AND ARRIVALS

These 2011 e-mail blasts were designed by Nancy Pierce of Pierce Graphic Design with photos of our horses taken by her. We have found a jewel in Nancy and have her blasts to thank for much of the interest in our horses that we have had recently. Working with Nancy is a breeze and we felt these ads are too pretty for a one-time blasting on the internet and so we decided to include them on our news page.
2010 - A GREAT YEAR!
We really have to thank our clients, both old and new, for making last year such a successful sales years for Dara Meadows Farm! We appreciate each and every one of you and would like to mention you and give you our thanks. Congratulations to Pete and Anja Alfano on the purchase of the promising young colt Alfano Vero Star DMF (Imperial Mistaar x Astarte Nile DMF by Thee Desperado). Congratulations to George and Darlene Henson of Graham Creek Arabians on the purchase of the most beautiful Astarte Nile DMF (Thee Desperado x Kiyaras Nile Star by Ansata Nile Bay). A huge congratulations to Sultan Hamdan Hayil with the purchase of our most look-alike daughter of Zahara Kiyara, the exquisite Sonbolidaa DMF by Thee Infidel and exported to you in Israel in foal to Akid Geshan. Also congratulations to Judy Davis for the purchase of Minstril Mist DMF, who must be one of the prettiest colts we have ever produced! And our thanks to Pat Roper and Jamie Zississ on the purchases of in-utero foals and embryos out of Halawa BintGeshan DMF, *Bint Bint Jamil and HMT Sylvanna. And congratulations to Carol Rogers of Kenton, OH, Dara McAdams of Ontario,Canada and Sarah Burns of Roanoke, VA for choosing Imperial Mistaar as the sire of your foals!

We are truly pleased to announce that Akid Geshan continues his run as a sire of superior broodmares. In 2010 the Australian National Champion Two-Year-Old Colt, Ashour Al Hasan, was produced out of Sukkara (Akid Geshan x Shaghira by Sir Ibn Moniet).

In 2010 we had two absolutely exceptional colts born at the farm. HMT Sylvanna's was so good that we are breeding her back in the hopes of a long awaited filly and Asmari Jamila DMF's is so nice that we are going to present him at the 2011 Egyptian Event.

On a personal note we have to mention the Breeder's Cup Thoroughbred World Championships at Churchill Downs in November of 2010. Girl Power! Debra attended the two days of world-class racing with fellow racing fan and sister, Denise. We thought Saratoga in August was magnificent and that will always be our favorite track, but the opportunity to gaze upon Zenyatta in all her glory in November was without precedent. This is surely one of the most beautiful Thoroughbred mares in the world and certainly the greatest race mare of our time! And perhaps all others. To see Zenyatta pass us in the stands the first time so many lengths behind the pack - well, there was probably no one at the Downs that day that would have bet she could have been anywhere near the finish let alone within inches of her 20th win. Just remembering that Saturday in November still gives me goose bumps! Zenyatta showed me the most amazing singular performance of a racing fan's lifetime and to tell you how far back that goes I can mention the memory of a little girl crying over Northern Dancer's loss in the Belmont Stakes, and that wasn't my first horse race:) It is rare to stand in the presence of greatness and Zenyatta is the real deal. To experience her "au naturel" in all her beauty, just google Zenyatta at Lane's End if you want to see a Thoroughbred showing off her amazing Arabian heritage. Congratulations to her and Team Zenyatta on finally capturing a well-deserved Horse of the Year Award!!! And the Secretariat Vox Populi award as well. Now on to Broodmare of the Year! We also saw 2010 European Horse of the Year, the diminutive Goldikova and watched her win her third Breeder's Cup Mile, the first horse in history to win three Breeder's Cup races in a row. Goldi is coming back next year to try for a fourth win and we will be there to cheer her on as she takes on the boys again after leaving them in her wake for the last three years! Goldikova rocks!!!

SEPTEMBER 2009
Sarah Burns reports that her beautiful Pimlico daughter Shalinay Nile DMF has won the blue ribbon at her first training show in dressage. This being one of our favorite of show ring disciplines we have to say we are very proud of both of them.

We also want to report that the gorgeous Geshan look-alike grandson Hamras Akid was the champion in his age group and went on to win the silver medal at the Middle Eastern Championships in Jordan! Hamras Akid scored a fantastic 94.1, high scoring stallion of the show!!!

September also included a lifetime highlight for Debra Geiser when she attended the Woodward Stakes at Saratoga Race Course with her sister Denise. Watching Rachel Alexandra - who by the way shows her Arabian heritage in a beautiful refined foreface and high set tail - win the toughest race of her career was absolutely spectacular!!! Rachel led through a punishing first quarter in 22 and change and it seemed totally impossible that she could hold on against seven tough boys for almost another mile. But she did and her race will go down as one of the greatest in Thoroughbred history! Rachel is all heart and beauty and to look upon her is a dream come true! Yeah she runs like a girl. Try and keep up! Breaking news - Rachel is 2009 Horse of the Year!!!!!!

JUNE 2009
Egyptian Event

We are thrilled to say we had one of the best Egyptian Events ever!!! Our beautiful son of *Al Lahab made his debut in the Stallion Showcase and was a big hit with connoisseurs of extreme Arabian type. Jadoube Ibn Lahab DMF's EBC breeding was purchased by noted breeder Lyn Rogers and she will use him on her beautiful mare Moonlight Sonataa, the full sister to 2009 Supreme Champion Stallion Botswana! Looking forward to a big winner for Lyn at the Event!

Imperial Mistaar had a great show as a sire and will certainly be one of the Event's leading sires in 2009. His exceptional son Etaya Sudan Amir was selected as the Reserve Supreme Champion Stallion as only a two-year-old! From only a few foals shown Mistaar was the sire of several champion and reserve champions and every foal made at least a top ten. Mistaar is clearly a stallion of significance in the US and a worthy replacement for his sire Imperial Baarez! We can't wait for our 2010 foals by Mistaar as we expect them to be some of the best foals we have ever produced!

JUNE 2008
Egyptian Event
What an Event!!! The Akid Geshan son Arabest Samir is the unanimous Supreme Champion Stallion! Samir has been knocking at the door for a couple of years now and we are so happy to see him win this deserved title! When Samir came in the ring you simply could not take your eyes off him. He is his daddy's son and really shows the elegance and quality that Geshan is known for. We are proud to have two original DMF foundation horses on the farm that have an Event Supreme Champion son on their resume!

Pimlico RCA was also a successful sire at the 08 Event with several sons and daughters winning championships, reserves and top tens. Two of the three Pimlico sons shown at the Event were present for the Saturday night finals by virtue of standing champion and reserve in their classes. We are especially excited by Shamas and look forward to seeing more of him as he matures.

And we are very pleased to congratulate Sarah Burns and her Pimlico daughter Shalinay Nile DMF on winning the Egyptian Event's El Gohara award at their very first Event. You go girls!

SEPTEMBER 2007

Dara Meadows Farm is proud to announce that we have joined the Imperial Mistaar LLC! This young stallion is one of the most beautiful and exciting horses we have ever seen and we are very high on both his parents. We are looking forward to combining this blood with our best mares to produce some of the finest straight Egyptians in the world.

Congratulations to Sarah Burns on the purchase of Shalinay Nile DMF by Pimlico RCA. Shalinay will be shown under saddle for a few years and then will become Sarah's foundation straight Egyptian broodmare. We are confident she will be a success at both performance and motherhood and we are pleased to have Sarah managing her career.

MARCH 2007

The beautiful Geshan daughter Akiysha Moon DMF (x Zahara Kiyara) makes her show ring debut in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the First Annual Riyadh Show. At thirteen years of age and after seven foals she was the reserve aged mare and also produced the champion yearling colt and Reserve Junior Champion, Sultan Al Mohammadia. Meanwhile at the National Championships in Egypt, Akiysha Moon's exquisite *Al Lahab daughter, FS Lady Moon was top five in the competitive two-year-old filly class. What a mare she has turned out to be!

OCTOBER 2006

Congratulations and thank you to Hasan Rifat of HN Rifat Arabians and Leigh Jamieson of Seven Oaks Arabians Pty, Ltd on their purchase of the beautiful Maya Marquisa DMF (Marquis I x *Bint Bint Jamil). Maya is the youngest daughter of our premier broodmare and it was with mixed emotions that we loaded her for her long voyage to Australia. However, we know she will have a wonderful home and will make all of us proud as both a show horse and a broodmare!

We would also like to thank Phyllis Hopf of Farleigh Stud and Rick Cummins of Westbank Arabians for their purchase of the halter champion Imperial Imdal daughter, Imdoll (x Bint Farette), from us. We are sure she will produce beautiful babies by Raquis at her new home in New South Wales and look forward to following her career with her new owners.

JUNE 2006
Dara Meadows Farm would like to congratulate Westbank Arabians and HN Rifat Arabians of Australia on the birth of a Makhnificent KA colt out of our Imperial Imdal daughter, Imdoll on June 1st. This beautiful and charismatic colt will join their programs as a future sire. We will miss this affectionate little guy and we anticipate great things to come of their partnership!!!
Egyptian Event
At the Egyptian Event the exotic Akid Geshan daughter Adara Alfala is crowned Most Classic Head Champion!!! This is a great win at a tough competition and we congratulate owner Mohammed Al Tobaishi, Saudi Arabia.

Once again Geshan is named to the leading sire lists for both halter and performance and Adara's Most Classic win did not even count towards points. Keep up the good work Geshan! His position on the lists is coming with limited crops of only a handful of foals each year! He is the man!!!

MAY 2006

We would like to announce the birth of our next stallion and the first colt we have ever retained for our own program!!! On the 24th of May the exceptionally beautiful HMT Sylvanna gave us a son by *Al Lahab. This is Sylvanna's first foal for us and we are proud to say that with him she has earned her position as a foundation broodmare for DMF. Jadoube Ibn Lahab DMF is an exotic replica of his sire with all the best of his mama too.

FEBRUARY 2006

At Australia's Feature Show the exquisite Bakyda by Akid Geshan is awarded the Senior Mare Championship with judge Jay Constanti of Om El Arab!!! This fabulous mare has now won classes, championships and top fives under some of the most respected judges in the world including Jeff Schall, Lenita Peroy, Shawn Crews and Emma Maxwell!

In the Saturday night finals we had a near miss for a championship with Asmari winning third place on the judge's cards. We can't wait to bring her back when she is more mature.

The Akid Geshan son, WR Karim Geshan wins big at the Event! What a collection of ribbons at his stall in both halter and performance. Congratulations to Debra and Lisa Fetting on such a great job with a beautiful boy!
